One of the great things about frequently changing time zones is that it’s always five o’clock somewhere.

It’s cold outside so today’s Friday happy hour is happening inside. In fact, at the moment, it’s happening with me sitting in the bedroom with my headphones on to block out the sounds of my arguing children.

And apparently I’m singing out loud. Mark just walked in, said “It’s a little pitchy,” turned around, and shut the door behind him.

TGIF, people, TGIF.

Here’s what I’m listening to, inspired by traveling 836 miles in the last week from Livingston, Montana, through Wyoming and on to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a quick drive across the border into Minnesota. Along the way we scored refrigerator magnets from Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Badlands National Park, The Minuteman Missile National Historic Site and Wall Drug Store, and the kids got three more stamps in their National Parks Passports. We saw a buffalo jump site where Native Americans drove the big animals off cliffs to kill them, the Buffalo Gap National Grassland, the Black Hills, a pioneer sod house and a prairie dog village.

It snowed, rained and hailed on us. Winds blew us all over the place.

Tomorrow, it’s on to Iowa.

Care” by Kid Rock, Martina McBride and T.I.

I can’t stop the war,

Shelter homeless feed the poor

I can’t walk on water

I can’t save our sons and daughters

I can’t change the world and makes things fair

The least that I can do

The least that I can do

The least that I can is care.

For amber waves of grain

For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain

We gonna roll this truckin’ convoy

      1. You are welcome! I am going to post one every Friday from here on out. Hopefully it will be warm enough soon to actually have an outside Happy Hour!
